Autism Oasis for Kids, Inc. is a private, nonprofit autism center and school dedicated to addressing the challenge of autism using child-centered, effective, and diverse methodologies. Program:

Relationship-Based Therapy
Our teachers use Relationship-Based Therapy as the foundation for all interventions.
We deeply respect an autistic child’s world, and seek to uncover the causes of
non-productive behavior through understanding and emotional support.  To monitor
a child's developmental progress, we use the “Growth Through Play” GPS tool,
a state-of-the-art online tracking system which parents and professionals working with
the child can view at any time.

Academic Program

In keeping with a multi-modal approach, we have incorporated Accelerations Educational Software, a comprehensive academic program which was developed to enable autistic children to become independent learners.  The Discreet Trial Trainer, based on widely used ABA principles, harnesses the power of the computer to provide each student with a customized lesson plan that encompasses the building blocks of reading, writing, and arithmetic.  The children love to use the computer, and the rewards are intrinsic- they progress because the stimulating graphics and sounds used to teach are fun!  The lessons are flexible and highly customized; the program provides data to target and build upon an individual child’s current academic level, while the teacher determines which of the countless exciting rewards- music, games, and visual images- are most motivating to the child.  The use of the DTT and other academic software is complementary to our overarching principle of relationship based teaching; we provide the secure environment in which a child can feel comfortable enough to learn.
