Want to Volunteer? Contact our autism center if you're interested in volunteering. Students attending the University of Florida, Santa Fe College or Lake City Community College interested in an internship are more than welcome to contact our autism center. While here, you can supervise the children while they're in the playground or working in the garden. You can also volunteer as a teacher's aid.
A Word from Our Founder I am a mother of a 10 year old autistic child, who survived childhood cancer along with a rare auto-immune disorder and later developed a severe immune deficiency. After extensive research, dedication and care, I helped my son recover from all those chronic and life threatening conditions. Having gotten extensive training in play-therapy, coaching, family & marriage counseling and having taken workshops at autism centers, makes me more than qualified to understand the challenges of families affected by Autism.
This is why great care has been put on the staff, composed of certified teachers coached by autism experts. They will work very closely with the parents, who are THE experts on their own child. Our program is designed so that the work of our specialists will support that of the parents, and vice versa.
Furthermore, our program will benefit from the latest research findings, as our school is intimately associated with a long time practitioner and researcher.
I truly believe in the potential and the gifts these children have to offer, so our center will offer a safe, respectful and nurturing environment best suited for them to flourish.

What is Autism?
Autism is a developmental disability which comes from a neurological disorder that affects the normal functioning of the brain. It generally appears within the first 3 years of life and is characterized by difficulties interacting, playing, and communicating, both verbally and non-verbally.
Autism symptoms vary widely in severity; include impairment in social interaction, fixation on inanimate objects, inability to communicate normally, and resistance to changes in daily routine. Males are affected four times as often as females.
Testimony
Dear Autism Oasis Team!
I cannot believe how fantastic the first week of
school has gone for our Alec. His attitude was unbelievably better this past
week and I believe he is truly found a place where he can attend school and
actually be happy! We are so excited for him!
When Alec was in the public school system I know his needs were not being met.
As much as they tried, they were not equipped with the right training to be
able to interact with Alec in the way necessary to reach him. The Autism Oasis
Team are fully capable of doing this and it shows in Alec's attitude. Alec used
to come home from school so stressed out he was bouncing off the walls. He
would be fed up, frustrated and unhappy to the point where it was almost
impossible to have a relationship with him at home. This week we are seeing a
boy who is happy and relaxed and so much more interactive.....it is truly
amazing! This makes the whole family atmosphere so much better.
I have no doubt that Autism Oasis is the place where Alec can finally be at
home and happy. Thanks so much Marie and Rob and all of the staff for being the
loving caring people he needs.
